Author Patricia Schults on Saving Our National Parks

From historical sites to national seashores and majestic mountains, there are few places in the U.S. that provide as much beauty and inspiration as our national parks.

As we visit these historic treasures, it’s important to recognize the issues that face them.

The National Parks Project is a partnership between Nature Valley and the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) that is helping to ensure our national parks get the care and support they need to flourish for generations to come.

Among the projects the initiative will focus on this year are:
· Sustaining native plant life in Grand Canyon National Park · Freeing Pronghorn migration in Yellowstone National Park · Restoring coral reefs in Biscayne National Park

Nature Valley has committed itself to helping the NPCA complete these worthy projects and is prepared to donate up to $600,000 to aid the cause. To that end, for every specially marked Nature Valley wrapper that consumers mail to the company between now and August 31, 2010, the company will donate 10 cents to the NPCA. Additionally, you can make direct donations to the cause online, as well as learn how you can win a trip to the Grand Canyon this summer.
