Cheer Teams Up with Amy Clark, Founder of MomAdvice.com to Share Tips and Tricks for Saving Money Around the House

Amy Clark, Founder of MomAdvice.com, in working with Cheer, has developed a few simple tips for saving money in every room of the house:

1. Become a Circular Sleuth
Everyone knows the importance of clipping coupons and shopping circulars, but it’s when you combine the two together that the really big savings occur. Get yourself a coupon organizer and clip all the coupons you can possibly fine, combine them with circular savings, and you’ll start to see a savings of up to $200 a month.

2. Buy in Bulk
When shopping, make sure to look for bulk size instead of buying individual snack packs. Invest in a box of sandwich bags and a ½ hour a week to make your OWN snack packs. Get your kids involved, make it a production line, and you could save more than $30 by making your own.

3. Hang Up Your Laundry
When it come to laundry, think about the savings you can have by switching to a cold water cycle and hanging your clothes on a clothes line, instead of using the dryer. Same thing goes for the towels – invest in an over the door hook to hang each towel up and designate one to each family member for the week. You could see savings up to $200 over the course of a year.

4. Look for Value Products
Don’t always shop for brand name products. If you look on the product label for many generic versions, you will see they contain the same ingredients, but are less expensive. Also, when it comes to your laundry detergent, you can save 15 cents per load by switching to a less expensive, value brand like Cheer brightCLEAN detergent. It’s a great option for families everywhere looking to stretch their dollar.

5. Time Your Showers
Grab an egg-timer from your kitchen and set it for 5 - 8 minutes. This is how long you can limit each person’s shower in the household. The savings could be up to $200 a year. Make it fun for your family and give them an incentive. Perhaps at the end of the year, you can use that $200 savings and put it towards something fun like a vacation or a video game system.
