From sustainable farming and new food and wine innovations, to a look at essential foodie equipment like the iconic KitchenAid mixer, Sissy Biggers shares trends coming out of the Aspen Food & Wine Classic.
Some of the trends include:
The iconic KitchenAid mixer: This iconic American brand, which traces its roots to the first stand mixer in 1919 and first dishwasher in 1949, is marking its 90th anniversary by introducing a special edition Candy Apple Red 90th anniversary stand mixer. A new line of Commercial-Style cooking appliances will also be making its first appearance at the Classic. Since the introduction of its legendary stand mixer in 1919 and first dishwasher in 1949, KitchenAid has built on the legacy of these icons to create a complete line of products designed for cooks. Celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2009, the KitchenAid brand now offers virtually every essential for the well-equipped kitchen with a collection that includes everything from countertop appliances to cookware, ranges to refrigerators, and whisks to wine cellars. Giving Back: Cook for the Cure, a partnership between KitchenAid and Susan G. Komen for the CureĀ®, was created to give those with a passion for cooking a way to support the cause. Since its launch in 2001, the program has raised more than $7 million through donation-with-purchase programs, special fundraising events, auctions, grassroots initiatives, and involvement from culinary notables including Bobby Flay, Mario Batali and Jacques Pepin. Last year, over $60,000 was raised during these live auctions at the Food & Wine Classic to help the fight against breast cancer. Visit www.cookforthecure.com
